The basic requirements for a Road Race Permit are outlined below. If you require any additional information, please contact the Municipal Hall at (250) 652-4444.
Disclaimer: Each race is treated on an individual basis and the information below provides only general conditions.

Subject to acceptable co-ordination with any other events to take place during the same general time period, and further subject to the concurrence of the Police, Fire, Parks/Community Services and Engineering Departments.

That no costs are to be incurred by the District for the event.

Confirmation that written permission has been received from other District's Reserves or MOTH (involved in each particular event) to use those portions of the route within their jurisdiction.

Submission to the District of a Certificate of Insurance ($2,000,000 minimum), with the District of Central Saanich and the Central Saanich Police Board, and their officers, officials, employees and volunteers named as additional insureds.

Information being received on the procedures to be adopted by event officials and participants in the event of a Fire Department emergency.

Prior approval by the District of Central Saanich of any public notifications/advertising to be placed prior to the event advising affected District of Central Saanich residents of the route event and any road disruptions/closures.

Submission to the District of a route map indicating the locations where Course Marshals will be stationed. Course Marshals must not engage in any form of traffic control, if traffic control is required only properly qualified traffic control persons using appropriate signs and equipment may do so.

Race Permit Fee made payable to the District of Central Saanich as outlined in the Fees and Charges Bylaw. Payment must be received prior to final approval being given by the District.

All race organizers provide a cellular telephone contact number to be made available to Municipal Staff, the Police Department and the general public on the day of the event. This contact number must be provided to the District prior to final approval being given for the event, and it is the expectation that this number will be listed in any neighbourhood notifications and mail-outs to impacted property owners along the race route.

Central Saanich Police will not attend the event, however they will monitor the race, personnel permitting.
