The District Road Line Marking Program is underway which involves painting of the road marking centre lines, land edge lines and intersection markings. This project will be occuring throughout the District and may occur during the day, as well as evening hours.
Please obey slow moving vehicles, watch for wet paint and traffic cones on or near the road.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call 250-544-4224 extension 221.
Road Markings Road markings give you warnings or direction. They are painted on the roadway, curbs or other surfaces. It is illegal to drive over freshly painted, wet pavement markings. A driver who drives over a freshly painted line can be issued two points against their driving record.
Yellow lines Yellow lines divide traffic moving in opposite directions. If there is a yellow line to your left, there will be traffic coming towards you on the other side of that yellow line.
Newly painted lines - Traffic Offence 143 A person must not drive on or over a newly painted line or marking on a highway when the line is indicated by a traffic control device.
Further information on Signs, Signals and Road Markings can be found in Chapter 3 of the ICBC Licensing Manual.
