The department provides financial reporting and control, and guidance for the overall long-term financial stability of the District. Primary responsibilities in the Finance area include preparation and monitoring of the District's five year financial plan; levying and collection of property taxes and utility bills; collection of building permit, dog license, and other fees and charges; processing accounts payable and accounts receivable; payroll administration; purchasing; development and maintenance of financial systems including financial, statistical, and management reporting; and investing and safeguarding the District's assets. The department also manages the insurance requirements of the District and is responsible for computer information systems.
