Park Type: Community Park Size: 0.85 ha
Pioneer Park is a dedicated green space located at the intersection of West Saanich and Clarke roads in the heart of Brentwood Bay. Officially dedicated in September, 1987, in memory of the early settlers, this site was formerly used for school purposes. West Saanich School remains a prominent feature within the Park today.
Built in 1908, with a 2nd classroom added in 1916, this structure is the oldest school house on its original foundation on the Saanich Peninsula. In recent years, restoration of this structure has been undertaken to ensure its continued service as a community hall.
