Submit an Application

We have a new process in place for the following applications during the COVID-19 outbreak. Please don't hesitate to email or phone us if you have questions about your application.


 

Building Permit Applications

Application Intake:

  • If you have paper copies of the construction drawings, application form, title search and all other required documentation, place your application package and plans in the marked bin at the front doors to Municipal Hall. Email the Building Inspections Division at building@csaanich.ca to make us aware of your application and include the date and time of drop off. 
  • If you have digital plans you may email those to building@csaanich.ca along with a scanned copy of a completed application form and any additional required documentation. The digital plans are acceptable for the REVIEW of smaller projects only. Original sealed paper copies of the permit plans will be required prior to the ISSUANCE of a building permit.

Municipal Review:

  • We will review your application and contact you with any questions or changes that are required.​
  • If additional plans or documentation are required as part of the review process, follow the procedure above to submit revisions.

Building Permit Issuance:

  • 3 sets of sealed paper copies of the construction drawings are required prior to issuance.
  • When your permit is ready to be issued, we will email you the permit so you may review any conditions.
  • If you agree to the conditions, sign the Building Permit, scan the document and send it by email, or advise staff if you are delivering your signed permit.
  • To issue a permit, payment is required for the entire building permit fee, if the 25% permit review fee was not paid with the application. Cheques can be placed in the secure mail slot at the front doors to Municipal Hall.
  • We will advise when you can pick up your approved and stamped plans from the drop box at the front doors of Municipal Hall and start construction.  

Building Inspections:

  • Please contact 250-544-4217 to schedule an inspection.  Municipal staff will assess whether or not an inspection will be completed, whether you can continue or whether the inspection will occur with safe physical distancing. For further details on our inspection protocol, click here.

 

Planning/Development Applications

Application Intake:

  • For information on development applications such as rezoning and development permits, including application forms, please click here.
  • You can email your Development Application and digital plans/documents to the Planning Division at planning@csaanich.ca
  • Alternatively you can drop off your application package in the marked bin at the front doors to Municipal Hall.
  • Submit your application fee in the secure mail slot at the front doors to Municipal Hall.

 Municipal Review:

  • We will review your application and contact you with any questions or advise if changes are required.
  • Please feel free to email us to discuss your application.
  • As per usual process, based on the type and complexity of your application, it may take a number of months to process.  Staff will be in contact with you throughout the process and to give you an indication of when you application may proceed to Council if required.

 

Tree Permit Applications

Application Intake:

  • You can email your Protected Tree Cutting/Pruning application to the Planning Division at planning@csaanich.ca.
  • Alternatively you can drop off your application package in the marked bin at the front doors to Municipal Hall (Please ensure you provide an email address on your application).

Municipal Review:

  • We will review your application and contact you with any questions or advise if changes are required. Please note, in some cases an arborist report is required and you will be contacted it the report is needed. 
  • You will be advised If a fee is applicable for your application. If required, your cheque could be placed in the secure mail slot at the front doors to Municipal Hall or you can mail the fee to the District (please reference your address on the cheque): Central Saanich Municipal Hall, 1903 Mt Newton Cross Road, ​Saanichton, BC  V8M 2A9
  • An issued permit will be emailed to you.

Engineering Applications

Application Intake:

  • If you have digital plans you may email those to engineering@csaanich.ca, along with a scanned copy of a completed application.
  • If you only have hard copies of your plans, place your application and plans in the marked bin at the front doors to Municipal Hall. Central Saanich Municipal Hall, 1903 Mt Newton Cross Road​, Saanichton, BC  V8M 2A9. Email the Engineering Department to make us aware of your application and the date and time of drop off or phone 250-652-4444. Engineering staff can help answer any questions you may have. 
  • Place your application fee in the secure mail slot at the front doors to Municipal Hall. Alternatively you can mail your application fee to the District. Please reference your address on the cheque.

Municipal Review:

  • We will review your application and contact you with any questions or advise if changes are required.
  • Please feel free to email us about your application.

Permit Issuance:

  • When your permit is ready to be issued, we will email you the permit.

Engineering Inspections:

  • Please email the Engineering Department at engineering@csaanich.ca to inquire about an inspection appointment.  Municipal staff will assess whether or not an inspection is necessary.
