We are pleased to announce the appointment of two new directors.
Brian G. Barnett is the new Director of Engineering and Public Works. Brian brings more than 20 years of experience in the local government sector to Central Saanich. His career began with 15 years managing engineering and public works for the Municipality of Whistler, he then managed engineering and parks for the District of Squamish and worked for the City of Port Moody before moving into consulting five years ago.
“I am very excited to join the municipal team in Central Saanich and look forward to working with Council, First Nations, stakeholder groups and staff,” says Brian. “This is a beautiful location and I am fortunate to now call Central Saanich home.”
Central Saanich’s Planning and Building Services department is also welcoming a new director. Jarret Matanowitsch will join the team on October 30. Jarret’s experience includes working in the CRD in Victoria, Saanich and Sidney. Most recently, Jarret was Manager of Current Planning for the District of Saanich.
"I am very much looking forward to working with Central Saanich Council, staff and the community, to help implement the goals and objectives of the Official Community Plan,” says Jarret. “Central Saanich is a diverse municipality with a wide range of planning issues and opportunities, and I am excited to come on board and help build on the good things happening in the community."
“The municipality undertook a broad search for these roles and we look forward to the new perspectives Brian and Jarret bring to the team,” says Patrick Robins, Central Saanich’s CAO.
