About the project
The watermains in Brentwood Bay near West Saanich Road and Stelly’s Cross Road were a high priority for replacement, and we are pleased to see the project almost complete.
In 2017, contractors began the major project of replacing 2.1 kilometers of major pipes, hydrants and connections to several properties along West Saanich Road, Verdier Avenue, Early Place, Enid Place, Tantalon Road, Meadowlark Road and Stelly’s Cross Road. The final work is being completed on West Saanich Road, between Sluggett Avenue and Carriage Lane.
The project is under budget, and we are pleased it is no extra cost to taxpayers. We were able to secure a major Provincial/Federal grant, which helped save considerable costs for Central Saanich. The total budget for the watermain project is $1.226 million, of which $705,000 is funded by the Federal/Provincial grant. The remainder is funded from reserves from the District’s Water Utility.
