Community Service Funding

To assist local community groups providing valued community services, Central Saanich provides multi-year service contracts that offer modest financial support.

The program is focused on enhancing the following five draft priorities of Council and themes of the Official Community Plan:

  1. Invest in Infrastructure and Active Transportation for a Complete Community
  2. Expand the Supply of Affordable, Attainable, and Rental Housing
  3. Foster a Community of Inclusion, Diversity & Accessibility
  4. Cultivate a Resilient Economy & Thriving Agricultural Sector
  5. Champion Climate Adaptation, Mitigation and Preparedness

Funding
The maximum funding request is $10,000 per project or program; applicants can submit requests for more than one project. Funds are intended to be supplementary to main sources of funding for organizations, but necessary in order to provide the local program.

Eligibility
Applicants must be incorporated non-profit organizations, a registered charity or be a local First Nation that can demonstrate a financial need for a specific project or program.  Staff will assess and award all applications using a grading form for transparency and fairness.

Term
A Community Service Agreement applies for a four-year term, and is not to be regarded as a commitment by the District to continue such assistance in future years. The four-year model aligns with Council’s term and strategic priorities and provides community organizations with four years of financial certainty.

Reporting
Recipients are required to submit a one-page summary report to the District by December 31 of each year that will be made available to Council.

Applications are now closed for the 2024-2027 program; watch for the next intake to open in 2026.

2024 Community Service Agreements

The District recently finalized a number of agreements with local organizations to provide valuable services to residents that align with the goals of our Strategic Plan.
