Integrated Stormwater Management
The Integrated Stormwater Management Plan provides a comprehensive approach for managing our stormwater. In 2010 we adopted the Surface Water Management Plan Bylaw to help manage stormwater flows from new development or construction. A major drainage project currently underway is the Maber Flats Agricultural Drainage Facility.
As we continue implementing the plan, our Healthy Watershed Committee helps track progress on rainwater initiatives, guides monitoring decisions, assists in developing funding applications and acts as a champion for progressive rainwater management in the District of Central Saanich. Committee members consist mainly of community members interested in helping to improve Central Saanich's waterways through education and community projects. The members include persons from the agricultural sector, business community, First Nations, and the citizens-at-large. Representatives from Peninsula Streams offer technical expertise on various projects and ideas to ensure suggestions are viable and will have a beneficial effect on the area.
