Starting this September, Peninsula ElderCollege is offering a variety of inexpensive programs for those over 50 who are interested in accessing general interest programs. All Elder College instructors are local community members who are volunteering to share their knowledge, experience and skills. The annual "Farm Fresh" guide, including over 30 Central Saanich farms is available at farm stands throughout the District.  It was published in the Times Colonist and other Island papers in April.  Find out where you can buy fresh-picked Central Saanich strawberries, sweet corn and lots of other locally-grown food.  And if you can't wait, you can check out the on-line edition on their website.

The Remembering When Program is a program presented by the National Fire Protection Association, and is aimed at providing a safe environment for the older adults in our community.  The program centers around 16 key safety messages - eight fire prevention and eight fall prevention tips.  If your group would like the Central Saanich Fire Department to offer a presentation to your members, call 250-544-4240 or 250-544-4225.

The Volunteer Firefighters Historical Museum is open for tours the last Saturday of every month from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 1903 Mount Newton Cross Road.
