Managing growth and development through land use planning is perhaps the most important role of an Official Community Plan. The principal mechanism by which we do this in Central Saanich is by designating the location and type of residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, agricultural, recreational, and public utility land uses on the Land Use Plan. The land use designations used in this OCP are outlined in Subsection 3.2: Land Use Designations and shown on Schedule F: Land Use Plan.
The Land Use Designations reflect the vision and objectives of the Official Community Plan and inform more detailed bylaws related to land use and zoning, which may include permitted uses, densities, size, siting and building form.
