Charles Elliott, a local artist and member of the Tsartlip First Nation, has designed a memorial art piece for the cenotaph in Brentwood Bay. The piece symbolizes a human being watched over by eagles, a sacred and wise creature; and it also recognizes the contributions and loss of indigenous peoples during conflicts.

The artwork also brings more First Nations artistic and cultural heritage into the community.

A local business, Pacific Coast Metalcraft, donated the time and materials to create this memorial piece of art.
The cenotaph is the location of the Remembrance Day Service on Monday, November 11, at 10:45 am.
