We’re excited to share the new covered multi-sport facility at Centennial Park will open on September 2! This 17,000-square-foot space is a major addition to our community, offering a year-round venue for lacrosse, pickleball, ball hockey, and more.
This is the only dedicated lacrosse surface on the Saanich Peninsula and the only covered multi-sport box in the region, modeled after the successful Harewood Park facility in Nanaimo.
This project is a collaborative effort between the District of Central Saanich and the Capital Regional District (CRD). The District contributed the land for the facility and successfully secured a $2 million grant through the Federal Government’s Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. The CRD, through the Peninsula Recreation Commission (PRC), led the construction and now operates the facility as a regional amenity.
Facility highlights
• Covered: Play rain or shine with a durable roof that protects the surface year-round.
• Multi-sport: Lined for lacrosse, pickleball, and ball hockey, with flexibility for other activities.
• Upgraded surface: New asphalt with an acrylic coating for safety and durability.
• LED lighting: Evening and nighttime use is now possible.
• Accessibility: Designed to be inclusive for all community members.
