Central Saanich kicks off second year of community bike rides

Locals and visitors invited to join fun, free bike rides on June 22 and July 12

The District of Central Saanich and Capital Bike have teamed up again this summer to offer free, guided community bike rides where residents can connect with neighbours, explore scenic trails, and check out local stops—all while gaining new bike skills.

Every ride is designed to celebrate what makes Central Saanich unique, like a stop this Sunday at a local coffee shop during a beautiful nature ride.

Community rides include about 1.5 hours of cycling at a comfortable pace, plus stops along the way. Experienced Capital Bike leaders make sure that participants cycle away with a beautiful new route and more confidence biking in their community. The next two rides are coming up quickly:

Nature Ride + Coffee Shop Stop
Date: Sunday, June 22, 2025
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Start & End: 2471 Mount Newton Cross Road (Lochside Regional Trail in front of McDonald’s)

Flavour Trails + Peninsula Country Market
Date: Saturday, July 12, 2025
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Start & End: Saanich Fairgrounds (main parking lot)

Everyone is welcome, with registration priority going to Central Saanich residents. Participants should have some bike experience and can bring either a conventional bike or an e-bike.

With cycling season in full swing, Central Saanich aims to help new and experienced cyclists gain more skills, learn new routes and have fun on their bikes. These guided rides come on the heels of other active transportation initiatives in the District, including its most popular GoByBike Week Celebration Station to date and the newly completed multi-use pathway along Mount Newton Cross Road on the Lochside Regional Trail.
