The Great BC ShakeOut takes place on October 21, along with a TEST of the Saanich Peninsula Alert. Everyone registered for the Alerting System will get a TEST notification either by Email, Phone or Text at 10:00am on October 21.
Sidney, North Saanich, and Central Saanich municipalities have joined together to provide public safety alerts to the residents and visitors of the Saanich Peninsula. 
The Saanich Peninsula Alert and is designed to deliver critical and potentially life-saving alerts to anyone who has registered. Alerts would be sent for events such as earthquakes, tsunami alerts, evacuation notices, or other safety threats. There is no sign up fee for Saanich Peninsula Alert.

Did you know that there have been 785 earthquakes here in southwestern British Columbia during the past year? That is about 76% of all earthquakes across Canada. The District of Central Saanich is registered for ShakeOut BC and hopefully everyone will participate at 10:21 a.m. on October 21st.
Please remember an earthquake can happen at anytime and anywhere. Remember to Have a Plan and Get a Kit and remember to be prepared for at least 7 days.
