Parking strategy under development for Keating Business District

The District of Central Saanich is developing a parking strategy for the Keating Business District. The purpose of the project is to assess the short-term and long-term parking challenges for the Keating Business District. More specifically, the objectives of the project are four-fold:

  1. Gather data on off-street and on-street parking to understand the overall parking conditions in the Keating Business District;
  2. Obtain feedback from local businesses to understand key challenges with respect to on-street and off-street parking in the area;
  3. Forecast parking requirements by the year 2041; and
  4. Recommend measures to address parking challenges and support future growth.

WATT Consulting Group will be conducting the data collection in the Keating Business District on Tuesday, November 30 and Wednesday, December 1. A team of four data collectors wearing high visibility vests will be in the field counting parked vehicles in both off-street lots and on-street from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Vehicle license plate data will not be collected. All of the parking utilization data will be used by the WATT team to conduct the parking demand analysis.
