There are a number of ways to share your opinions and ideas:
Write to Council
We welcome you to email Council.
You can also mail or drop off a submission to 1903 Mt. Newton Cross Road, Saanichton BC, V8M 2A9.
Correspondence specifically addressed “to Mayor and Council” may be placed on a Council meeting agenda.Your correspondence will be placed on the agenda for information if it is in the public interest, or requests action/requires a decision of Council. We do not place correspondence on the agenda related to operational matters (staff responds to these), but if addressed to Council, all Council members will be made available a copy. Your name and neighbourhood as stated on written submissions and from your verbal comments will be recorded in the permanent public Council minutes, which are published online (addresses and phone numbers are redacted). The proceedings may also be video recorded. If you do not want your name and neighbourhood published, please advise us when submitting your correspondence.
What agenda will it appear on? If received before noon on the Wednesday prior to the Monday meeting (5 days prior), or before 12:00 p.m. on the day of the Council meeting if related to an existing agenda item. All submissions received after the noon deadline will be considered for the next Council agenda.

Address Council at a Council Meeting or Public Hearing
In light of the ongoing and evolving COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure social distancing, Council meetings and Public Hearings will now be conducted virtually and live-streamed on our website. All Council meetings are being broadcast live here.
If you wish to submit a comment or question to Council for the meeting, you can email to firstname.lastname@example.org or deliver via the drop box at the front door prior to noon on the day of the meeting. Submissions for 'Public Questions' will be read aloud at the meeting. Your question(s) may have to be summarized to fit within the allotted time.
To make a presentation on any matter within the jurisdiction of Council, please submit an Application to Appear as a Delegation (see Documents above) to the Corporate Officer by noon at least ten days before the preferred meeting date. For additional information, refer to the Guidelines for Delegations (see Documents). (Two presentations per meeting – ten minutes each.)
If you wish to speak at a Council meeting or Public Hearing, you can register to speak via Zoom or phone by emailing email@example.com or calling 250-652-4444 prior to noon on the day of the meeting.

Attend an Open House
From time to time project-specific open houses are scheduled to receive feedback on specific projects. These are a more informal way of learning about a project and filling out a feedback form or providing your thoughts to the staff or consultants at the event. All the input received at the open house is recorded and subsequently provided to Council for their review. Current engagement projects are posted at LetsTalkCentralSaanich.ca
