Our water main is getting an upgrade.
This work aims to replace critical water infrastructure in phases.
What's happening?
We are replacing sections of the water main along Tanner Road and several residential streets. A future phase may include Central Saanich Road. The project will minimize disruptions for residents as much as possible.
This project will integrate modest surface improvements for pedestrians and transit where possible, and it is designed to allow for future expansion of active transportation and transit facilities.
Two phases are planned:
Why now?
The existing water main is being replaced due to its age. Aging water infrastructure increases the risk of leaks, service interruptions, and unplanned repairs throughout the District's water distribution system. Through the Asset Management Plan and Water Distribution Master Plan, Central Saanich is investing in the systematic replacement of aging water mains to improve reliability, reduce long-term risks and maintain high levels of service for residents and businesses.
This project has been scheduled to follow completion of the Province's Keating Cross Overpass Project.
