Considering home improvements? Central Saanich residents can now get a $99 home energy evaluation
New subsidy saves residents hundreds of dollars on a home evaluation
Central Saanich has launched a new program to help residents find out how their homes use and lose energy.
Residents can save time and money by booking an EnerGuide home evaluation with a District-approved Energy Advisor. Through this new program, an initial evaluation costs $99 (saving residents over $400) and a post-retrofit evaluation will be just $50 (saving residents over $200).
The evaluation is the first step for improving a home’s overall efficiency and looks at things like air leakage, insulation, and heating systems. Residents gain a clear understanding of possible improvements to help lower their utility bills and boost home comfort.
An EnerGuide home evaluation also unlocks local, provincial and federal funding. For example, the evaluation is a necessary first step in the District’s popular Heat Pump Financing Program, which sets up residents with a zero-interest loan of up to $12,000 to get off fossil fuels.
“In Central Saanich, residential buildings account for 11% of our community’s greenhouse gas emissions,” said Central Saanich Mayor Ryan Windsor. “An energy evaluation helps you see how you can lower your utility bills and invest long-term in your home or improve property value. It’s a win for our residents and a win for the environment we rely on.”
This program is available for properties within the boundaries of Central Saanich. Find the eligibility requirements and a quick application form at CentralSaanich.ca/EnerGuide.
