Young residents—this is your chance to share what makes Central Saanich special!

Young residents are invited to share what makes Central Saanich special as part of the District’s 75th anniversary celebrations.

The District of Central Saanich has launched a youth contest encouraging participants to showcase their community through art or writing. The contest invites youth to reflect on their connection to Central Saanich and what makes it a meaningful place to live.

Participants can choose from one of three prompts:

  1. What makes your hometown special?
  2. What is your favourite place in Central Saanich?
  3. What do the animals in your neighbourhood love about living here?

Entries can be submitted as either:

  1. An original artwork, or
  2. A short essay of 200–300 words

Submissions must include the participant’s first name, age, address, and contact information.

“This milestone anniversary is about celebrating our community—past, present, and future,” said Mayor Ryan Windsor. “This contest gives young people an opportunity to share their perspective and help tell the story of Central Saanich in a creative and meaningful way.”

Five winners will be selected. Prize packages include a 75th anniversary t-shirt and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Central Saanich Police and Fire stations.

 Entries can be submitted by:

  1. Emailing communications@csaanich.ca
  2. Dropping off at Fire Station 1 (1512 Keating Cross Road), or
  3. Dropping off at Municipal Hall (1903 Mt Newton Cross Road)

The submission deadline is July 31, 2026.
