The Central Saanich Fire Department (CSFD), in partnership with the Central Saanich Police Service (CSPS), is providing an update regarding two recent structure fires that have generated public interest and concern within the community.
Following a thorough fire investigation conducted by CSFD investigators, with support from the Central Saanich Police Service, the Truffles Catering fire has been determined to have a known origin and cause of ignition. Investigators have completed their examination of the scene and have not identified any evidence linking the fire to criminal activity.
The investigation into the Garden Forks fire remains ongoing. Police investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and are following all available avenues to determine the cause of the fire. At this stage, the cause has not yet been determined.
While both fires occurred within a relatively short period of time, investigators have found no evidence to suggest the incidents are related.
Both agencies recognize the impact these incidents have had on business owners, employees, and community members. Investigators remain committed to ensuring a thorough and evidence-based investigative process.
