Central Saanich enacts campfire ban beginning Thursday, July 16

Beginning on Thursday, campfires are prohibited in Central Saanich in alignment with BC Wildfire Service restrictions for most of the Coastal Fire Centre region, which includes Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and parts of the south coast. The ban will be effective 12 p.m. (noon) on July 16, 2026.

This step is being taken to help reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires during ongoing dry conditions. One spark is all it takes! Help protect our community, local parks, forests and firefighters by respecting the ban.

Category 2 and 3 open fires remain prohibited, as well as fireworks. For more information and a full list of prohibited activities and equipment, go to: CSFire.ca
