Fire Prevention Week runs October 4–10. This year's theme focuses on everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires. Throughout the week, Central Saanich Fire Department will share practical tips to help residents charge safely at home and on the go.
Learn how to:
- Use the charger supplied with your device or one approved by the manufacturer
- Charge devices on a hard, flat surface
- Unplug devices when fully charged
- Receive emergency notifications through Saanich Peninsula Alert
- Recognize the warning signs of a failing lithium-ion battery
- Safely charge larger devices such as e-bikes, e-scooters and power tools
Follow along on our social media channels throughout the week and discover how simple charging habits can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires.
