Incentives increased for heat pumps in the CRD

Central Saanich residents can access up to $3,350 in rebates for switching from a fossil fuel-powered (oil, natural gas or propane) home heating system to an electric air-source heat-pump through the EfficiencyBC program and CRD top-up.

The program was recently expanded and some heat pumps are now eligible for higher incentives.

“Buildings are the second largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in our region—following transportation,” says Central Saanich Mayor Ryan Windsor. “By converting from fossil fuels to a heat pump, residents can lessen their home’s carbon footprint. This rebate program will hopefully help enable people make that switch.”

Offered as part of the Province’s new EfficiencyBC program and with a top-up from the Capital Regional District, this rebate program will significantly reduce the cost for residents.  Residents switching from oil heating to an electric heat pump will also eliminate the risk of an oil tank leaking into the environment.
