Seeking input on Official Community Plan update

What would make Central Saanich better now and in the future? The District is asking the community to share their ideas as it launches the Official Community Plan review.

With the first phase of public engagement underway, the District is focusing in on identifying key themes, values and priorities to be explored during the review. The early feedback will help guide the OCP review and will ensure the OCP conversations to come are focused on key topics of interest to the community.

How to get involved

The virtual town hall event will feature panel of experts discussing key topics, such as agriculture, housing, climate action and economic development, and staff and the consultants will then be available for questions and discussion.

Central Saanich’s OCP review is anticipated to take just over one year and will involve the community throughout the process. The OCP helps shape the future of Central Saanich and sets out policies that touch citizen’s lives in some way every day: such as how housing needs are met, where businesses and services are located, the types of parks and recreational facilities that are needed, and protecting our environment and agricultural land.

Further public consultation will take place in the fall, when the District hopes to be able to offer both online and in-person events and present draft policies for discussion and feedback.
