History

The Saanich Fair was held here for 120 years! This was also the site of social gatherings, including summer picnics, annual balls, annual Fall exhibitions and sporting events, including horse and pony races, Highland dancing, piping, and sheep dog trials.

In 1933, the Saanich Pioneers' Society was given permission by the Fair Society to erect a log cabin on the grounds, to perpetuate the memory of the Saanich Pioneers and for use as a museum.
