Environment Canada's forecast is calling for heavy rain on the south island over the next few days, with the heaviest rainfall expected on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
Residents should take a minute to clear gutters/drains on their property, and, if it is safe to do so, clear the catch basins in the road from any debris.
Here are a few ways you can prepare your property for heavy rain.
Sand BagsIf necessary to protect your property, sand and sandbags (to bag your own) are available in front of the Municipal Yard located at 1703 Keating Cross Road.
For further information on flooding and the use of sandbags, check out PrepareBC.
Parks and trails
Residents are advised to be vigilant around trees as they have experienced stress recently and this will be compounded by the impact of heavy rain saturated the ground.
