NOTICE TO NEIGHBOURHOOD: INPUT OPPORTUNITY

Council Chambers at Central Saanich Municipal Hall

This notice is to advise you that Council will hold an opportunity for neighbourhood input on the proposed redevelopment of 1903 Mount Newton Cross Road (current Municipal Hall site) at a Committee of the Whole meeting on January 26, 2026. 

The session will: 

  • be an opportunity for direct neighbours of 1903 Mt Newton Cross Road to provide feedback to Council prior to the next steps of the redevelopment, and

  • include an overview of the process and timelines and guidance on how the public will be invited to provide input in the next phases of the project. 

The proposal for 1903 Mount Newton Cross Road includes amending the Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw by re-designating the property to “Commercial/ Mixed Use”. This would permit mixed-use buildings with commercial on the ground floor and residential above, and requires rezoning the property (it is currently Institutional) to Core Commercial: (C-1 zone). Regulations would permit building height up to 6 storeys, increased density and implement more generous setback requirements compared to residential zones.

WAYS TO PROVIDE INPUT

  • Written enquiries and comments regarding the proposal submitted by mail or email received by 12:00 pm on Monday, January 26, 2026, will be included in the revised meeting agenda. All correspondence submitted will form part of the public record and information, including name and address, may be published on a meeting agenda. 

  • Comments may be submitted by the following means:

    • Deliver to: Municipal Hall, 1903 Mt Newton Cross Road

Additionally, you may:

  • Attend the Committee of the Whole meeting in person, where there will be an opportunity to speak to Council.
