Request for Expression of Interest issued for 1903 Mt Newton Cross Rd

As part of the long-term Civic Redevelopment project being undertaken by the District of Central Saanich, a Request for Expression of Interest (RFEI) has been issued for 1903 Mt Newton Cross Rd. The District is seeking an experienced developer to acquire the approximately four-acre site in Saanichton Village and develop a vision for a viable project that will meet the following goals:

  • Respects the significance of this prominent location and is compatible with the surrounding neighbourhood and Official Community Plan, 
  • Creates significant sustainable prosperity in this area of Central Saanich by generating ongoing positive economic, environmental and social benefits; and in particular, helping to advance the District’s Economic Resiliency Action Plan,
  • Brings an offering of interest and vibrancy to the community, helping to activate the public realm in the area,
  • Reflects high quality design principles,
  • No unreasonable delays in the completion of the development once agreement reached, and
  • Realize a land value for the Site at or near the highest and best use.

The municipal hall, Central Saanich Police and Fire Station No. 2 currently located on the site will be relocated to a new facility with a recreation centre on Hovey Road. Construction completion and move is projected to be late 2028.

Interested parties are invited to submit responses to the RFEI for the acquisition and development of 1903 Mt. Newton Cross Road until 3:00 PM (PST) March 10, 2026.
