A powerful weather system is developing off the coast and will bring strong winds and heavy rain starting Tuesday, November 19 in the afternoon. Peak winds Tuesday night into Wednesday, with gusts up to 100-110 km/hr are possible.
Here are some important reminders to keep you and your home and business safe.
🌳During high winds, please use extra caution when in forested and treed areas, as there is an increased risk of falling branches and debris. Stay alert to your surroundings and avoid these areas until the winds subside.
🍂 Clear gutters and storm drains in front of your home or business to prevent flooding.
🎒 Ensure you have emergency kits for your home, workplace, and vehicle.
🔦Charge your devices & check the batteries in flashlights.
If you need sandbags to protect your property, there's a self-serve sandbag station outside the Municipal Yard at 1703 Keating X Rd with sand, shovels and bags.
Report clogged storm drains or other non-emergency issues to Public Works at 250-544-4224.
