Central Saanich to mark 75 years with celebration

This summer, Central Saanich will celebrate a significant milestone—75 years as a community and 75 years of service for the Central Saanich Police Service and Central Saanich Fire Department.

The 75th Anniversary celebration will bring residents together for a full day of live music, food trucks, a range of unique activities, and fun and games with local community groups. At its heart, the celebration is about community—how neighbours show up for one another, how local organizations and businesses lend a hand, and how strong relationships shape the place people are proud to call home.

“The amount of enthusiasm for this event has blown my expectations out of the water,” said Manager of Community Engagement, Britt Burnham. “When musicians were invited to take part, every single one said yes, local businesses stepped forward enthusiastically, contributing everything from traffic control to signage and funding. It is incredibly inspiring.”

A special highlight of the celebration will be the recognition of Deputy Fire Chief Rob Nelson’s remarkable 50 years of service. Born and raised in Central Saanich, his exemplify the commitment, professionalism, and community spirit that define Central Saanich’s emergency services.

Music plays a central role in the day, with an all‑local lineup that pays tribute to Central Saanich’s creative roots. Every musical act featured includes musicians who were raised in the community, making the event a true celebration of homegrown talent. The musical lineup will be announced next month.

Save the date: Saturday, July 25, 2026, to join neighbours at Centennial Park, which will transform for a one-day festival from noon to 8:00 p.m. Local food vendors, businesses, artisans, and community groups are invited to participate and showcase their talents and products.
