The District of Central Saanich is celebrating its 75th Anniversary with a full day of community festivities, featuring a musical lineup that showcases the depth of homegrown talent in the community.
Every musical act featured in the celebration includes musicians that were raised in Central Saanich, making the event a true tribute to the people and creativity that have shaped the District over the past 75 years. The celebration is headlined by local talents Nick La Riviere & The Best Laid Plans, with performances by well‑known favourites Victoria Rock Choir, Vanilla Riot, Madi and the Dads, and Luke Lampard with special guest Chase Varnes. The stage will also spotlight emerging young local artists, including Tsartlip First Nation drummer Kingston Weesa, rock band Wreckage, jazz group Wet Knees, and others—highlighting the next generation of local musicians.
Headliner Nick La Riviere and his band The Best Laid Plans bring a high‑energy blend of original music with New Orleans‑inspired party grooves, R&B, funk and pop. Led by singer and trombonist Nick La Riviere—a Stelly’s Secondary alumnus inspired by the school’s music program—the band features some of Victoria’s most accomplished musicians and has a reputation for infectious, feel‑good performances.
Nick is also the musical director of the Victoria Rock Choir, a powerhouse ensemble of 130 singers who deliver a full‑throttle rock show, some of whom reside in Central Saanich and will be performing as well.
Madi and the Dads, fronted by Madison Olsen of Tsartlip First Nation, is known for their vibrant mix of originals and well-loved covers. The band pairs Madison’s powerful vocals with local dads--a seasoned group of Peninsula musicians that promises a feel‑good performance for all ages.
Also taking the stage is Vanilla Riot, a high‑energy cover band with deep local roots. Featuring current and former Central Saanich residents—including proud Stelly’s Secondary graduates—the band delivers classic anthems and modern hits perfect for celebrating 75 years of community pride.
Local country favourite Luke Lampard of Brentwood Bay brings heartfelt storytelling and crowd‑friendly country sound fresh off major festival performances, joined by special guest Chase Varnes, a remarkable 14‑year‑old Central Saanich singer‑songwriter whose self‑produced originals blend country warmth with pop polish.
The 75th Anniversary celebration takes place July 25 at Centennial Park and runs from noon to 8:00 p.m. It will bring residents together for live music, a food truck festival, a beer garden, a display of classic cars and vehicles, and not-to-be missed family‑friendly activities.
