The Central Saanich Fire Department is currently recruiting paid-on-call firefighters (PoCs). Successful Recruits will participate in a comprehensive training program to become fully certified firefighters and play a valuable role as first responders in their community. PoCs respond to emergencies in our community 24/7.
“In addition to the life and career skills our paid-on-call firefighters gain, there is an incredibly strong sense of community and camaraderie that attracts people to this role,” said Central Saanich Fire Chief Kenn Mount. “We welcome physically fit and diverse applicants who want to be leaders in the community, be part of a team and can make a long-term commitment to the Department.”
Central Saanich has 45 firefighters, including six career staff; training takes place every Monday night from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
“Becoming a member of the Central Saanich Fire Department has been an amazing choice for me and my family,” said Central Saanich Paid on Call Firefighter Greg Michell. “The unity and synergy that runs amongst the group is fantastic, it’s been the best thing I’ve ever decided to do.”
