In concert with local service providers, the District of Central Saanich has drafted an Age-Friendly Community Plan, and is seeking public input.
“With our growing population of older adults, the District is working with local partners to create an age-friendly plan that will help us ensure people know about and can access the resources they need to continue living independent, active lives, and being involved in the community,” said Central Saanich Mayor Ryan Windsor.
The draft is based on feedback from the community to date, as well as direction from the Saanich Peninsula Accessibility Advisory Committee and the project’s steering committee, which is comprised of local service providers. The plan, once adopted, will provide actionable steps local agencies and the District can take to improve the lives of older adults.
The draft actions are organized based on eight key areas of community life in which communities can become more age-friendly, as determined by the World Health Organization.
