What do you see as the benefits and barriers to constructing more energy efficient homes? We are gathering feedback through a survey and if you enter your contact information, you will be entered to win a Nest Learning Thermostat. It remembers what temperatures you like, learns your schedule, and programs itself to save energy. WiFi connected, you can control it with your mobile device, and use it with numerous compatible smart home products.
The five-minute survey is for both residents and those in the building industry. It will help staff and Council assess demand, readiness, concerns and training needs and it will help direct future decisions. Central Saanich staff will review and analyze the survey results and report to Council. Based on Councils recommendations, we will prepare options for Council's consideration about implementing the new BC Energy Step Code—a series of steps representing increasing levels of energy-efficiency performance. The province intends to transition to requiring Step 5, or “net-zero ready” construction by 2032.
