Come Celebrate Brentwood Performance Stage Sept 6

The Central Saanich community is invited to the grand opening of the new Brentwood Bay Performance Stage on September 6, 2018, in Pioneer Park.

The stage recently received its finishing touch: an art installation by Salish artist Chris Paul. Following a dedication ceremony by respected First Nations elder John Elliott, the community will have a chance to recognize the many supporters that made this vision a reality.

Local legends Dustin Bentall and Kendel Carson, along with a very special guest, will bring their Canadian rock-country-folk sound to Central Saanich. They duo has toured around North America and Europe with artists including John Prine, Alan Doyle, Blue Rodeo, Kathleen Edwards and Sam Roberts.

The outdoor stage was the vision of the Brentwood Bay Community Association. Director Geoff Bate took the lead on the project, organizing fundraising, design and building. Local contractors Tidman Construction, led by John Tidman, brought the dream to reality.

“It was a privilege to lead the team that put this project together,” said Bate. “The response from the public and business community was overwhelming. Almost every supplier involved is based here in Central Saanich.”

The stage brought a number of community groups and members together. Now complete, it is being donated to the community and will be property of the District of Central Saanich.

“The stage will bring the community together and provide a venue for our local musicians and performers as well as attract some of the many talents in the region,” says Central Saanich Mayor Ryan Windsor. “The District and Council were supportive of the project from the very start and we are grateful to the many people who have made this incredible contribution to our community.”

The ceremony will start at 6:30 p.m., with a free concert beginning at 7:00 p.m.
