March 8 is International Women's Day

International Women's Day belongs to all communities everywhere. Whether through a global conference, community gathering, classroom lesson or dinner table conversation - everyone can play a purposeful part in pressing for gender parity.

“We all have a role to play in closing the gender gap and, in particular, I want to see more women in politics and leadership roles," says Central Saanich Councillor Alicia Holman. "I believe awareness of the gap and of the strengths women bring to these roles is the first step to creating spaces where women’s voices are respected and heard."

So make International Women's Day YOUR day and do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women.

Did you know? The first International Women's Day was celebrated in 1911. This year's theme is Press for Progress.
