Project Status: Preliminary Design
Our water main is getting an upgrade.
This work aims to replace critical water infrastructure in phases.
What's happening?
We are replacing sections of the water main along Tanner Road, Central Saanich Road and several residential streets.
This project is mainly an underground infrastructure upgrade, integrating modest surface improvements for pedestrians and transit. It is designed to allow for future expansion of active transportation and transit facilities.
Two phases are planned:
Why now?
The existing water main is being replaced due to its age. Work will not be scheduled until after the Province's Keating Cross Overpass Project is complete. The project will minimize disruptions for residents as much as possible.
Timeline
- Spring 2025: Preliminary design to see what is possible within space and budget constraints.
- Fall 2025: Council reviewed the design concept.
- Spring 2026: Project information session for Tanner Ridge residents.
Construction for Phase 1 may begin as early as summer 2026. Phase 2 is planned for as early as 2027.
