Stormwater Management

The Integrated Stormwater Management Plan provides a comprehensive approach for managing our stormwater. In 2010 we adopted the Surface Water Management Plan Bylaw to help manage stormwater flows from new development or construction. A major drainage project currently underway is the Maber Flats Agricultural Drainage Facility.

As we continue implementing the plan, our engineering department tracks progress on rainwater initiatives, guides monitoring decisions, assists in developing funding applications and acts as a champion for progressive rainwater management in the District of Central Saanich. We also work with stakeholers in the agricultural sector, business community, First Nations, and the citizens-at-large, as well as representatives from Peninsula Streams.
