Our water main is getting an upgrade.
This work replaces critical infrastructure and makes it easier for people of different ages to get around our community.
To be cost-effective, we look to integrate underground infrastructure upgrades with aboveground road safety improvements where possible.

Current phase
Location: Wallace Drive, from the entrance of Blossom Park to the intersection at Lisnoe Avenue
Timeline: Starting in Winter 2025 with anticipated completion in Summer 2025
For the latest information, please see Project updates below.
Scope of work
- Replacement of water main and service
- Crosswalk with flashing beacons at Cultra Avenue
- Painting to continue bikes lanes on Wallace Drive
- Bus stop accessibility improvements
- Sidewalk between Cultra and Lisnoe Avenues, budget permitting

What to expect
- Landscaping changes: Within the municipal right-of-way, necessary hedge and vegetation removal will improve sightlines for road safety and accommodate curb and sidewalk additions.
- Parking changes: Please note that starting on March 10, 2025, on-street parking will not longer be available on Wallace Drive, matching the sections of road above and below.
- Speed reduction: The speed limit will be reduced to 30 km/hour while this is an active construction site. Please respect signage and follow direction from traffic control personnel.
- Temporary changes to road use:
- Driving and cycling: Please plan for single lane alternating traffic, Monday to Friday, and potential for short traffic delays.
- Walking and rolling: If the sidewalk is temporarily closed, please look out for marked detours and direction from traffic control personnel.
- Taking the bus: Please plan extra time in case BC Transit stops need to be temporarily relocated. We are sharing updates with the School District about road work near school bus stops.
- Mail access: Mailboxes near Lisnoe Avenue may be temporarily relocated or access may be limited to Bruce Gordon Place.
- Garbage and recycling: Garbage cans and recycling boxes may need to be shifted by residents so that collection teams can more easily reach them.
Hours and safety
Construction work is anticipated between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday to Friday (with most work days ending at 5 p.m.). Traffic control signage and personnel will be in place to help direct pedestrians, cyclists and drivers through and around work areas. Crews will make sure that the construction site is safe on weekends.
Crews are working to make this as smooth as possible for everyone. Thank you for your understanding while our community's aging water main gets this necessary upgrade!
